Wow - you have clearly picked up my tastes and predilections very accurately, given that you know me only through my journal. That was indeed the single film on the list about which I genuinely thought, "Dang, I can't believe I'm still in a position where I can't bold that one!", rather than, "Yeah, I guess I ought to have seen that," which is what I thought for most of the others. I've been meaning to see it for years, and I know perfectly well I would love it.

Mind you, these days Lovefilm makes it awfully easy to translate "Oh, I really must get around to seeing X" into putting X on your rental list and thus ensuring that it drops through the letter-box one day. So I have just done exactly that for Roman Holiday. Thanks for the prompt. :-)

Oh, splendid! Looking forward to reading what you thought of it. Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck - it's going to be a winner, isn't it? :-)

I've seen 102 from the list

Traffic, Crash, Sideways are all excellent, as is No Country for Old Men (though very brutal).

An interesting meme. I'm not quite as much of a film buff as I thought I was, but I think 90.5 is respectable.

I've got 106 on the list. Interesting meme just even to see what was considered oscar nomination worthy!

117. But I know I'm going to see at least four of the missing films over the next twelve months.

I've seen 74. I'm delighted that The Barretts of Wimpole Street was nominated in this category, along with Witness (which I heartily recommend, it's a fantastic film), and Dead Poets Society. What a pity that none of those films actually won...

Interestingly, 1997 is the only year for which I've seen every nominated film (and I really wasn't impressed by some of those). I think further film watching is necessary! :)

145 for me (only two years where I've seen them all - '94 and '97).
